Breath of the Wild it has achieved quite a few modifications along the years, but few with the scope and ambition of Second Wind, a story-based expansion that adds new characters, side missions, and bosses.
“Second Wind is a large-scale expansion for Breath of the Wild which aims to add new content to the game in a similar way to the official DLC, “the project creators write on their Discord server.” We’ve also decided to take things a step further by providing various revisions, bug fixes, tweaks, and new gameplay elements for gamers to explore. ”It is currently built for the Wii U version of the game, but the Switch version is a possibility (modifications are only available through emulation and on pirated consoles).

In addition to adding dozens of new animals, weapons, and enemies, Second Wind also includes changes ranging from changing the atmosphere to each of the game’s 120 Shrines to make them feel more unique to more detailed bow tremors for make them “more aesthetically pleasing.” According to a wiki project, Second Wind also incorporates many elements of other existing modifications, rebalancing things like craftsmanship, riding and the final fight against Ganon. It even includes masks brought into the game Ocarina of time i Majora’s mask, which give Link new skills.
With more than 50 people contributing to the project, the page mod for Second Wind, 60% is currently complete, but players are already testing it beta using the group’s Discord. There is even a roadmap with tentative plans on when the remaining functions will be completed. A new underground crypt mini-dungeon, for example, has a June end date. Maybe by then we’ll have news of when Nintendo plans to release it Breath of the Wild 2, but in the meantime it’s nice to see enthusiastic fans moving forward with their own unofficial expansions.
