MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who has reiterated false claims that President Donald Trump did not lose the election, said retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl’s are removing their company’s products from their stores.
Trump followers on social media platforms are now calling for boycotts of retailers, while other consumers are urging people not to buy MyPillow products.
“I just got a phone call with Bed Bath & Beyond,” Lindell said during an interview Monday evening with the Broadcast Network on the right. “Drop MyPillow”.
“I just called on the phone, not five minutes ago. Kohl’s, all these different places … These guys don’t understand,” he continued. “They’re scared. Like a Bed Bath & Beyond, they’re scared. They were good partners. In fact, I told them, ‘You guys, come back whenever you want.’
Representatives from Kohl’s and Bed Bath & Beyond did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment.
A CNBC search of the retailer’s two websites Tuesday morning still showed MyPillow merchandise available for sale. MyPillow is also sold to JC Penney, Amazon, Belk and some other major retailers.
Lindell has been the object of fire for spreading conspiracy theories. Last year, for example, he promoted a false cure against Covid. More recently, he has said there has been widespread electoral fraud during the 2020 elections.
According to the New York Times report, Dominion Voting Systems officials have sent Lindell a legal letter warning of pending litigation over his unfounded claims of widespread fraud on his machines. Lindell was not immediately available to respond to CNBC’s request for comment on the letter.
Last week Lindell was seen visiting the White House and carrying partially obscured notes that seemed to tell Trump to invoke “martial law if necessary.”
After Lindell’s interview where he referred to Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl’s, Twitter users are asking other retailers, such as Walmart, to leave MyPillow as well.
Recently, the country’s top retailer halted donations from its political action committee to the campaigns of Republican Congressmen who were opposed to certifying the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
