The new Rhode Island State vaccine online registration tool is now up and running.
The site can be found here and will allow Rhode Islanders to register for vaccinations. Some have already signed up.
The site was developed by ClinicWizard Inc., a division of Multi-State Partnership for Prevention, which is a subsidiary of the Maryland Partnership for Prevention.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) identified Prepmod, ClinicWizard’s sister technology, which was identified in the department’s highly questionable plan presented to CDC in October. A GoLocal investigation revealed the numerous errors in the state plan.
RIDOH has declined to provide an up-to-date copy of the agency’s updated CDC plan or immunization plan.
The state plan presented in October said: “Vaccine notification during the COVID-19 response requires numerous new and existing systems to exchange data. During H1N1, registered providers did not use the vaccine information system in line as intended by RIDOH, as this was a manual process and providers often did not submit the requested data.Considering that the record of adult vaccinations in Rhode Island is new, some providers are they incorporate for the first time and those who do not have the ability to send HL7 files to the registry will use PrepMod, which is also new “.
According to the state plan, “training for vaccination sites that will use the PrepMod system is provided through the PrepMod vendor and is coordinated through the training coordinator of the RIDOH immunization program. The training coordinator is the liaison for all vaccination sites and helps schedule workouts and address any additional training needs. Online training will be provided to all administrative staff who will use the system. Mass vaccinators, MV Workgroup staff and other state officials and hospitals that will use PrepMod will be trained over the next month.
And, RIDOH wrote, “The vendor that developed and supports PrepMod is aware of the data requirements of the CDC COVID-19 vaccine and is working to adapt the system to ensure that it meets all necessary data collection requirements and reports. RIDOH will upload COVID provider enrollment files to CDC twice a week, as required in a data-based CSV file from a PrepMod extract file. “
According to RIDOH, “reports can be run on RICAIR [Rhode Island Child and Adult Immunization Registry] up to the supplier level to control the doses administered. PrepMod includes a real-time inventory tracking feature.
“In the event that PrepMod is completely inaccessible, Rhode Island may re-record on paper, including the processes referred to in the Rhode Island Medical Emergency Distribution Systems Plan (maintained by RIDOH).”
