The masked singer he has long dispensed with Nick Cannon. Shortly before the release of the fifth season, it was announced that he had former Mr. Mariah Carey gave positive to COVID-19 and Niecy Nash would intervene to organize the competition of the reality of Fox until he was able to return to work safely. (The Cannon Hate Speech Scandal it didn’t keep him off stage, but at least public health issues did.) Well, apparently Cannon got a clean health status and will return as a host in next week’s episode. Nash was a welcome change for fans of the very expensive riddle game, but it will be nice not to hear Judge Ken Jeong call her “mama” every 30 seconds to move forward.
[Details of the April 7 episode of The Masked Singer discussed below.]
In tonight’s episode, Bulldog entered the competition as one of the “wildcard” contestants who was periodically added to the mix, one of those seasons with many “game changes”. Bulldog’s nasal rendition of New Editon’s “Candy Girl” closed out one night that also featured performances by Black Swan (probably the JoJo singer of “Leave (Get Out)”), Chamelon (probably Wiz Khalifa) and Piglet (definitely Nick Lachey); as well as last week’s wildcard entry, King Crab, who had a mild panic attack after overheating with his costume.
The unfortunate panic attack provided an interesting behind-the-scenes look as the cameras followed poor Crab to his detention area, where they unmasked themselves behind a curtain. But aside from this drama, the main event was the scheduled revelation of “America’s vote,” which consisted of dictating which contestant was to be eliminated and unmasked. In seasons prior to COVID, The masked singer he asked his live studio audience to vote along with the judges. To show that the voting was taking place in full, they showed images of audience members and judges looking at their phones, worrying about which warbler to send the bags to. Because this season the live audience is actually just images of old seasons, we have been told that a small group of superfans have been given the chance to vote from home, but it has never been explained how these superfans are watching these episodes in real time, so how should we trust them? (As with Dancing with the stars, the producers have never revealed how much the judges ’votes are weighted compared to the audience’s vote, so it’s likely that there were always messes.)
But this week, Niecy Nash was tired of the farce. With the five remaining Group B participants in front of her waiting to hear the results of the vote, Nash—channeling the Republicans of Georgia—He revealed that she changed the game, threw the votes and decided the loser herself. The judges were shocked (or at least feigned a shock) when Nash called Bulldog his choice to unmask, but it all made sense once it was revealed that he was none other than Nick Cannon under the golden dog mask.
So now we’re back with Nick Cannon, everyone. Yay…?
