Nintendo Switch Leak reveals the original design of the console

A new leak from Nintendo has revealed the original design of Nintendo Switch, which bears no resemblance to the final product launched in 2017 and has since been the best-selling console in the world. 2020 has been a bad year for Nintendo from a security perspective, as leaks come out of Nintendo files like crazy. The last of these leaks reveals an initial and original design of what would eventually become the Switch and eventually the Switch Lite. Interestingly, the original design not only bears no resemblance to the final product, but is actually closer to the Switch Lite than the traditional Switch.

As you can see below, the original design of the console features a screen that expands beyond the analog discs in a way that is very reminiscent of the mobile phone screen. In fact, the console is mostly screen-only, with three small buttons at the bottom that prevent the face from being totally a medium to display.

If the design looks familiar, it’s because it looks almost exactly like a “filtered” image of the console that did the rounds before it was revealed, which was eventually overridden as a hoax.

According to some documents accompanying the leak, the Nintendo Switch originally supported 3D functionality and would be compatible with the Nintendo 3DS. Apparently, Nintendo was also looking to use a 480p screen. Fortunately, it was decided against this and made the screen 720p.

Of course, take all this, the pictures and the details of the information, with a grain of salt, as all this is information of the filtered variety. At the time of publication, Nintendo has not commented on this leak and this is unlikely to change. However, if it does, we will be sure to update the story with everything on offer.
