ViacomCBS is leaning heavily on old favorites when it comes to completing its upcoming Paramount + streaming service.
On Wednesday, the company highlighted several new film and television projects it plans to bring to the platform after its debut on March 4th. Many of these new titles will be familiar to the public, as they will be reboots, derivations, or prequels from popular movies and series.
Paramount + will also host several original shows, movies and documentaries, including a series based on the “Halo” video game franchise.
Also, content that was only available on CBS All-Access will be branded in the Paramount + flag. This includes “Star Trek: Discovery,” “The Good Fight,” and “Why Women Kill.”
The streaming service will be packed with more than 2,500 movies from the franchise library such as “Mission Impossible,” “Transformers” and “Indiana Jones.”
Dates of the new lineup were not announced during the presentation, but Bob Bakish, president and CEO of ViacomCBS, said Paramount + will release 36 original series during its first year. The service will be heavily supported by children’s programming, reality television and scripted drama series.
