The CEO of Parler LLC says he has been hiding after receiving death threats.
John Matze Jr.’s social media platform. it was briefly the new home of Donald Trump’s conservative supporters who came after Twitter banned the president. But Parler went dark on Sunday after Apple Inc. and Google would remove it from their app stores and Amazon.com Inc. he plugged in his web hosting service, citing violent content that the e-commerce giant played in the January 6 Capitol Revolt.
“Many Parler employees suffer harassment and hostility, fear for their safety and that of their families, and in some cases have fled their home state to escape persecution,” Matze’s lawyer said in the Parler’s lawsuit intended to force Amazon. Web Services to put the platform back online. Matze had to “hide with his family after receiving death threats and invasive personal security breaches.” The CEO did not specify the source of the threats, but his lawyer said in a file that Matze’s secret action was needed because he has been highlighted “as the AWS CEO continues to denounce.”
Matze’s move comes after Amazon earlier this week said its employees had been too threatened by Parler users. “Both parties to this dispute have shown that their employees have suffered harassment and real threats, including both parties, death threats, due to the alleged nature of this litigation,” according to Parler’s file, which was previously reported by Fox News.
