A lot of smartphone brands have done so recently it was aimed at legacy camera manufacturers to help improve the image quality of their phones. Vivo joined with Zeiss, OnePlus partnered with Hasselblad, and now, according to various reports, it looks like Samsung may be looking to join Olympus to upgrade the cameras of future Galaxy phones.
For the first time, a possible partnership between Samsung and Olympus on Twitter was detailed on Twitter Yogesh, who claimed that while the exact nature of the partnership was still not entirely clear, it could lead to new technology in the Galaxy Fold 3 (which is expected to launch sometime this fall) or the Galaxy S22 Ultra (which is not expected to arrive until early next year).
The reports on the collaboration were later confirmed by IceUniverse, who stated a source told him the partnership between Samsung and Olympus was “reliable news.” According to reports, Olympus contacted first to provoke initial conversations.
Walthough it remains to be seen what kind of effect Olympus will have in the mobile cameras of Samsung, Dutch place GalaxyClub.nl reports that Samsung is also considering adding sensor-switch technology to the Galaxy S22, which coincidentally (or not) is technology that Olympus has introduced in several of its mirrorless cameras.

Sensor-scrolling is a technique commonly found in high-end DSLR cameras mirrorless cameras that allow the camera to move the image sensor independently of the rest of the device, which can reduce vibration and movement to help capture sharper, images without shaking. And in some cases, camera makers like Olympus have also used sensor change technology to move the image sensor of a camera just one pixel in several directions while capturing a series of photos, before joining those images to create a composite image with sharper resolution and detail than you would get from a single shot.
Ddedicated sensorchange technology has not had much action smartphone cameras. The majority device manufacturers have embraced it optical image stabilization (OIS) technology, which usually adjusts both the camera sensor and its lens together to reduce vibration, while being less expensive to implement. However, last fall, Apple added sensor change stabilization to the wide angle camera on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and there are rumors that Apple plans to expand the use of sensors-change the technology across the entire iPhone 13 line later this year.
Addition of sensor-the change technology could represent a big upgrade for Samsung’s Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S21 Ultra it has an impressive 10x optical zoom that could be further enhanced with better stabilization. Although these specifications are not confirmed, Let’s Go Digital partnered with Technizo Concept to create renderings of what could be a Galaxy S22 Ultra with a 200 MP sensor and new Olympus camera technology.
Samsung used basically the same image sensors in its last two main ones Galaxy S phones (with improvements in image processing between generations), so the company you could really benefit from some improved camera materials on the upcoming Galaxy phones. Tpraying at Olympus could be an interesting way to make this happen.
