“Saturday Night Live” moved away from the Biden administration in its first episode since the opening, and the omission did not go unnoticed by some viewers.
The sketch program did not feature performances by President Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday night, but chose to mock controversial Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the launch of COVID-19 vaccines and the saga GameStop.
“Why doesn’t SNL make a sketch about Biden ???” one person was caught on Twitter.
Another spectator he wrote: “Disappointed, I was expecting a stronger and more fun episode. After the departure of Trump, the inauguration of Biden and was it the first episode of the new year? “
The show consistently relied on Alec Baldwin’s impression of former President Donald Trump during his tenure and also parodied Joe Biden during the 2020 election.
However, after a month-long break, some were surprised not to see an impression of Biden on the screen.
“I wanted SNL to cover the opening of Biden …” wrote a spectator.
Lorraine Ali, the Los Angeles Times television critic, noted that she felt that SNL “suddenly seems lost” without Trump and that the show was “struggling to find its footing.”
