Another app bites the dust of older Apple TVs.
Last week, Google confirmed that the YouTube app will no longer be compatible with third-generation Apple TVs starting in early March. Now it looks like CBS All Access will also lose compatibility with Apple’s older set-top , for a message that is shown to third-generation Apple TV users and that informs MacRumors. The change will occur at the same time as CBS All Access is released as Paramount +.
Paramount + will be available on the iPhone, iPad and the new Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD boxes on March 4th. The message obtained by MacRumors states that at this time, users will be able to send Paramount + content from an iOS device to their third party. generation of Apple TV or AirPlay 2 connected screen, as will be the case with YouTube when the service disappears from the device next month. But the new service doesn’t seem to be natively supported on the old Apple TV.
We have contacted representatives of ViacomCBS for more information on loss of attendance and will update this post if we receive news.
When asked about the change last week, a Google spokesman told Gizmodo in a statement that the company “always works to ensure that our users have the best experience on YouTube, and from time to time we need to make changes to our compatible devices list. “
Losing support for a small number of apps isn’t such an important reason to go out and buy a new device, unless you really, really does not support the projection process from the mobile device. If so, I can respectfully suggest that you replace your Apple TV with Chromecast with Google TV? I recently made the change and recommend it.
