John Krasinski’s “Some Good News” is back from the summer holidays – and he took Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, George Clooney and millions of dollars with him.
The 41-year-old actor and director of “A Quiet Place” restarted his popular YouTube series, which launched his three-month career at the start of the pandemic in March, with a “Holiday Special” on Sunday at night.
Johnson wore a “Dwanta Claus” costume to help Krasinski announce that the FedEx sponsor had donated a whopping $ 5 million to the Toys for All holiday toy.
The duo also welcomed Jay Abel, a widowed father who had previously done so he asked Johnson for a retweet of their eBay ads “nerd” to give a Christmas to their children this year.
“Your story is my favorite of the holidays. It’s like superdad stuff, “Krasinski told the single father of two children in Copperopolis, California, whose wife died three years ago.
“I try to be what I expect from a father. I don’t do anything special, “Abel told Krasinski and Johnson.” I’m a collector, they’re my favorite things, but my kids are more important than me. “
But Rock had a surprise for his father who was struggling to find work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Take all your stuff off Ebay so Dwanta Claus will take care of all this stuff, man,” said Johnson, who also pledged to buy all the items on Jay’s children’s list, including the new Xbox Series X for your 11 year old and LOL Surprise! OMG dolls for your 8 year old daughter.
The former pro-wrestling superstar also invited the family to the DC Universe in Southern California, when he is safe, and promised Jay that he would give him a skin-signed script, for the film. of “Black Adam,” where he stars.
The episode also featured George Clooney, 59, in the recurring part of “Weatherman,” a role played by fellow Hollywood list members like Brad Pitt earlier this year.
Sunday’s special was a good return for the brand after Krasinski quit smoking in May. At the time, fans criticized Krasinski and his show, which garnered millions of YouTube views, for selling to ViacomCBS for an undisclosed sum after a heated bidding war. Krasinski was labeled a “complete sale.”
Krasinski defended himself on Rainn Wilson’s live Instagram show, “Hey There, Human.”
“I only thought about doing eight during my forties,” he told Wilson, 54, in the interview. “I have these other things I’ll have to do very soon, like ‘Jack Ryan.’ More than that, writing, directing and producing (all of these things) with a couple of my friends was a lot.”
Their participation “would not be sustainable with my previous commitments,” Krasinski said. “I would love to keep doing the show from my office forever, but it wasn’t sustainable.”
He assured fans that his good recovery would be imprinted on the reboot, as to some extent he will be involved in the creative process.
“We have a lot of really fun things planned and I can’t wait to dig deeper,” he told Wilson. “I will be part of it whenever I can, and I will host a couple of episodes and provoke a different community of people. We are very, very excited about this. “
Although regular episodes stopped occurring in May, the “Some Good News” brand, which has more than 2.25 million YouTube subscribers, has since expanded to Twitter and Instagram with a steady stream of posts on social media.
