T-Mobile would like to take you aboard the 5G train. As part of its latest Un-carrier initiative, the company announced allows customers to upgrade their smartphones to a 5G phone for free offering a $ 60 home internet plan and promising unlimited data for everyone.

The carrier telegraphed that he had one great 5G plans in the works before March. This is because, despite all its investment in 5G, most people have not experienced it on their own. At the moment there are few people who have 5G compatible phones and it is possible that those who do not have the right data plan.

For starters, T-Mobile claims that starting April 18, new and existing customers can change any mobile phone and get a Samsung Galaxy A32 Free 5G phone. And they really mean cap mobile phone, as long as it is in working order (for example, without cracked screens, water damage, etc.). This includes flip phones, Sidekicks, Razrs, BlackBerrys. IPhone users can also participate, but with some more restrictions. Those with iPhone 11 models you can get an iPhone 12. If you have an iPhone 7 to X, you can get the iPhone 12 by discount. Meanwhile, older iPhones (including the original) can get half as much from an iPhone 12 Mthat.

The small print of both promotions is that you have closed 24 months of invoice credits and you have to pay sales tax. (If you leave before the end of 24 months, you’ll have to pay the rest.) Also, while you can upgrade your Galaxy A32 for the rest of 2021, the iPhone promotion has a May 1 expiration date.

He second part this push involves T-Mobile upgrading existing customers (including all former Sprint users) on postpay plans to an unlimited free one. Verizon and AT&T customers with limited data plans can also switch to an unlimited T-Mobile plan for an “equal or better” rate than what they currently pay.

Finally, the operator launches its 5G internet plan at home for $ 60 a month with Autopay. T-Mobile claims that customers can expect speeds of up to 100 Mbps and that all eligible households will see average download speeds of at least 50 Mbps. The service has no data limit, no additional taxes or fees for equipment or contracts. T-Mobile will send a 4G / 5G gateway to customers, who will be able to install it all themselves.

Again, there are some caveats. First, you have to live in an eligible area, even though T-Mobile says more than 30 million homes are eligible. at launch, with 10 million of these homes located in rural areas. You can check if your area is suitable here. It’s also limited by network capacity, which T-Mobile says “increases all the time,” but it’s something you might want to keep in mind if you live in a heavily populated area. T-Mobile also noted that access may be limited to launch due to global supply chain issues that have affected wifi gateway supply.

Right now, T-Mobile is the leader in its 5G coverage nationwide, thanks in part to the fact that it has more mid-band spectrum than other major operators. The problem is just that 10 million of the accounts that make up your subscriber base are on T-Mobile 5G network, although the operator has total of 102 million subscribers i tin cover 280 million. If it wants to maintain its 5G potential, T-Mobile will need more users to upgrade both its phones and data plans — hence this massive push. Honestly, it’s a smart move.
