This Saturday at 11:40 pm in Japan, a man with a picket attacked one car in which actor and film director Takeshi Kitano—best known by his stage name Beat Takeshi—he was traveling. The attacker even called by the 74-year-old filmmaker gets out of his car. Fortunately, neither Kitano nor his driver were injured.
In accordance with Asahi News, the attack took place on Tokyo Broadcasting System Television after Kitano finished his news program Shin Joho Seven Days Newscaster.
The car’s windshield and driver’s side window were shattered.
The assailant is a 40-year-old man from Chiba prefecture, it is reported Mainichi News. He is quoted as saying he felt “ignored” last June when he waited for Kitano and told investigators, “I got on my knees near the car and asked him to help me enter the world of the show business, but he ignored me ”.
The man has admitted to the attack, but Metropolitan Police added that sometimes his comments made no sense.
Police found a knife with a 10-centimeter blade the possession of man, who also admitted to carrying the weapon. He was arrested on the spot for illegal possession of weapons, it is reported NHK. Although the news does not clarify the exact type of knife, it is against the law in Japan to transport certain types, including locking blades measuring more than 5.5 centimeters.
Kitano debuted in the 1970s as part of a comedy duo called The Two Beats. During the 1980s, Kitano became one of the largest television celebrities in Japan.
