(Reuters) – An Air Canada Boeing Co 737-8 Max en route between Arizona and Montreal with three crew members on board suffered an engine problem that forced the crew to divert the plane to Tucson, Arizona , the Canadian airline said in an email. statement Friday.

Shortly after takeoff, the pilots received an “engine indication” and “decided to shut down an engine,” an Air Canada spokesman said.

“The plane was diverted to Tucson, where it landed normally and remains.” The incident took place on December 22nd.

In response to a request for Reuters comments, a Boeing spokeswoman referred to Air Canada for information about the incident and did not provide any further comment.

The United States last month lifted a 20-month-old 737 MAX flight ban, with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration explaining the details of the software, system and training updates that Boeing and airlines must complete before transporting passengers.
