After essentially creating a pure show Spielberg-King fanfic, Matt and Ross Duffer will go from in honor of his heroes to work with them.
A project that nearly 40 years ago, the Duffers will partner with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV for a Netflix series (uncomfortable) based on that of Stephen King The Talisman. This is huge for Talisman fans, who for a long time thought the book was too extensive to ever be a film, but also for Spielberg himself he had the rights in the novel since 1982, when Universal bought them. For years he talks about it as a movie, but with the Duffers and Netflix on board, the more than 900-page book will be the series that requires the source material. Curtis Gwinn, writer and producer of Stranger things as well as shows like The walking Dead i The leftovers, will be the showrunner.
The Talisman is the perfect project for this specific set of people, following a 12-year-old boy who enters the territories, a parallel universe that is a “flip” of the real world, all in search of a crystal called a Talisman in a attempt to save his dying mother. We have a child on an adventure, we have parallel dimensions, we have a damn thing werewolves. Inject it into the veins with a side of childish discomfort and probably many tears with your eyes open. The book, co-written by King i Peter Straub, also has a sequel called Black House where our hero boy becomes a detective boy. The second season, it’s here.
