There was a confrontation with a second B35 bus that refused to move.
“You don’t get more New York than that,” said Josh Apert, who lives nearby.
For several minutes, the two buses did not move, in the middle of the intersection.
Witnesses became members of the public who became negotiators and offered to help clear the deadlock.
“How was he entitled if the other bus was here?” said a spectator.
They quickly realized that it would take much more than a minute for New York to drop the curtain of this conflict.
Finally, the buses moved.
The MTA called this a “very New York traffic jam,” acknowledging that it could have been better managed. He blamed an illegally parked minivan and a shopping container. They issued a statement saying:
“This is an illustration of why well-applied enforcement and street parking rules are so critical to the smooth running of our buses: we’ll contact local authorities to make sure this isn’t a point. of chronic problems “.
“This is a busy intersection: one of the busiest. There is always congestion and stubborn people who don’t want to move,” Apert added.
