Have you ever accidentally logged in to someone while texting?
Google has a feature to help Android users who have this problem and is appropriately called “Heads Up.”
The feature is being tested in the beta version of the Google Digital Wellbeing app.
You can also use this app to track your smartphone usage and make sure you don’t use it too much.
The Heads Up feature will work by sending you a notification if it detects that you are walking around with your smartphone unlocked.
It will alert users to be aware of their environment.
The warning may appear in the form of noise if the phone is not silent.
You are also expected to be able to walk whether you are walking, jogging or running.
The Google Help page explains: “The app uses sensors on your phone that detect movement to understand whether you’re walking or not, while location is used to understand whether you’re walking indoors or outdoors. “.
You do not need to share location data to use the feature.
If you grant location permissions, the feature may take into account whether you are indoors or out.
Google added: “While we’ve tested this feature to be as accurate as possible, don’t rely solely on this feature to keep it safe.
“Always use your best judgment and use this feature as a gentle reminder when you are distracted while walking.”
It’s still unclear when Heads Up could be released to all Android users.
To use Heads Up right now, you can join the beta program in the digital wellness app.
