Match Group announced Friday that Renate Nyborg will take over as CEO of Tinder after Jim Lanzone takes over as CEO of Yahoo.
Nyborg, who joined Tinder in 2020 as CEO of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will be Tinder’s first female CEO. Its first day in the new post is September 27th.
Nyborg met her husband on the dating app and joined Tinder from the online meditation app Headspace. He also spent more than four years at Apple, where he ran the subscription business for the company’s App Store across Europe.
“As she runs Tinder’s European business, she has demonstrated true leadership and is constantly focused on accelerating growth and developing experiences based on what our members, especially women, are looking for,” the CEO of a statement said in a statement. Match, Shar Dubey.
The Nyborg appointment comes when dating applications are in a period of innovation following the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier this summer, Tinder announced a handful of new features, including a crawl page and videos in profiles, which are said to be indicative of major moves ahead.
