The Victory LGBTQ Institute also noted in a statement that Buttigieg broke a political barrier on Tuesday.
“Pete broke a century-old political barrier with overwhelming bipartisan support and paving the way for more LGBTQ Americans to get high-profile appointments,” said executive director Annise Parker.
“Pete testifying at her confirmation hearing, with her husband watching, will be one of the powerful images that define this unprecedented political moment and will be remembered as a milestone in the United States’ move toward social justice,” she said. .
