When the Swiss Alp Watch debuted for the first time in 2016, it was even introduced with a video about the language parodying Apple product launches. But it wasn’t just Apple marketing that H. Moser did an aping. Wwith its drawer case, the Swiss Alp Watch looked like a clone of the Apple Watch, but only on the outside. Inside was a real Swiss movement that needed meandering to maintain the only “application” of the clock:tell the time: work. Only 50 of them, priced at $ 25,000, were produced to appeal to watch enthusiasts who want a portable statement about not jumping on the bandwagon of smart watches.
Five years later, H. Moser has revealed what he calls Final update Swiss Alp Watch—Again in Apple’s annual update cycle for its smart wearables. The reflective face of the original Swiss Alp watch has been painted with the same light absorber (more than 99% of visible light) Vantablack painting this caused a museum visitor fall into an eight-foot hole it looked like it was painted on the floor. Paired with hour and minute hands painted black, makes the final update look like a genuine OLED display.
Weven the first Swiss Alp Watch used a smaller traditional watch to show the movements of the second hand of the watch, on the final update, has been replaced by a rotating gradient disk revealed through a series of openings that recreate the charging icon most often seen on Apple smartphones. But under the face, you will find H. Moser’s Caliber HMC 324 movement that lasts approximately 96 hours between windings.
