These ssssssneaky massage therapists have no hands.
People who desperately need pain relief are willing to let carnivorous reptiles slide all over their bodies (and faces) into a small spa in Cairo.
As relaxing music pumps through the sound system, masseurs rub oil on clients ’backs, before introducing a combination of pythons or about 28 different types of non-venomous snakes into the 30-minute session. fueled by adrenaline.
Safwat Sedki, owner of masseurs and spa, said snake massages help reduce muscle and joint pain while improving blood circulation and releasing endorphins.
“Using snakes is a type of massage and has two purposes, physical and emotional,” Sedki told Reuters in the video captured earlier. “The physical goal is to improve blood circulation and mental stimulation and the emotional goal is to release endorphins that help the ‘happy hormone’ that helps people regain confidence and strengthen the immune system.”
After gaining popularity for the first time in Asia, especially in Indonesia and the Philippines, these supposedly relaxing snakeskin sessions expanded to other countries, including Brazil, Russia, Israel and the United States, Sun reported.
Sedki admitted that it wasn’t an easy sale for his Egyptian clientele at first: “When we first introduced the session, a lot of people were scared and said,‘ Snakes, how can snakes be used ?! “- but once we started explaining to people the benefits of this massage … the idea was accepted by many people, especially those who have a phobia or are afraid of snakes.”
Client Diaa Zein, who stumbled upon the spa service while traveling on her social media, said she experienced a “feeling of relief and rejuvenation” as soon as the creatures were placed on her back. .
“It simply came to our notice then [and] scared of snakes in my body, ”he said. “But the fear, anxiety and tension subsided and the session gave me a sense of relaxation as the snakes passed over my back and having them there increased my self-confidence.”
The spa owner and his clients claim that the massage gave them an increase in self-confidence and a feeling of total relaxation due to the unusual feeling of snakes on the skin.
Sedki said he started by offering the sessions for free to curious patrons, but now charges about 100 Egyptian pounds ($ 6.37) for a 20- or 30-minute session.
However, snake massage should not be used as a substitute for traditional medical care or doctor visits, Sedki warned.
