The Senate passed a resolution ordering the Commission on Human Rights and Labor Affairs to investigate what measures and / or protocols have been implemented in the Puerto Rico Police Negotiation, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the Administration of Puerto Rico. Courts, to ensure that crimes motivated by the gender identity or sexual orientation of crime victims are classified and dealt with in accordance with these circumstances, as well as any other initiative that guarantees dignified treatment of victims and promotes greater institutional awareness.

This is the Resolution of the Senate 78, the authorship of the senators, God of Lourdes Santiago, Rafael Bernabe, Ana Irma Rivera Lassen, Ada García Montes and Rubén Soto Rivera.

“This measure translates into hate crimes. It will be possible to know what can be done and what is not being done. The entire justice component would benefit from this investigation to work on the issue of hate crimes,” he said. indicated Rivera Lassen.
