Tom Hanks reveals that he shaved his head for a role and that he is not delighted

The 64-year-old actor (very briefly) revealed his new look during a Tuesday appearance on “The Graham Norton Show.”

Hanks wore a baseball cap for most of that appearance. At one point, he explained that he was currently in Australia filming Baz Luhrmann’s next biopic about Elvis Presley, in which he plays Colonel Tom Parker, Presley’s manager.

“Let me show you the horrible haircut I have to have to portray Colonel Tom Parker,” Hanks said, as he did his best to hide his unfortunate haircut. “Look at this horrible … Do you see it? Look at this?”

Then, for about a second, Hanks stretched and showed off his hairless scalp. If it blinked, you might have lost it.

But judging by the shouts of the audience, everyone saw it.

“I just scared the kids. I want to apologize,” Hanks said.

While Hanks ’bald appearance surprised many of his fans, it’s not the first time the actor has had that look.

Before the coronavirus pandemic began (and before he and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, were diagnosed with the virus), Hanks was in Australia doing pre-production work for the same film.
In April, she appeared on “Saturday Night Live” from home and explained what was going on with her hair or lack thereof.

“Don’t worry now, don’t be afraid,” he told the audience. “That shaved head was just for a movie and my hair grows back very slowly. It saves time in the shower, so I don’t know maybe we should all do it, eh?”
