Hurry up, dear! We have overcome … the moon!

Some men just want to see the world burn. Or breaking into pieces. Or explode several million times. One of these men is a director Roland Emmerich, whose career consists mainly of such great disaster films (Independence Day, 2012, The Next Day) and small (Halfway, White House down, the lousy American of 1998 Godzilla film). But its greatest disaster in history – literally and probably figuratively – will come soon and is titled Moon fall.

In which the moon, as you might suspect, falls. On earth. Please watch this trailer with all its WTF glory:

The mit sure makes a mess of the Earth in many unique and potentially contradictory ways. But Moon fall it is not not more about themoon falling to the head. Note the elaborate space station seen in the trailer, and then read the document official summary of the film:

“A Moon fall, a mysterious force strikes the mfrom its orbit around the Earth and sends it to a path of collision with life as we know it. A few weeks before the impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (winner of the Halle Berry Academy Award) is convinced she has the key to saving- us all …bjust an astronaut from his past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, Halfway) i conspiracy theorist KC Houseman (John Bradley, Game of Thrones) to believe she. These unlikely heroes will mount in space an impossible last-minute mission, leaving behind all those they love, only to discover that ourit is not what we think it is ”.

This movie is clearly one Armageddon boot with increased (and expanded) stake, but between the summary and some of the weirder features of the trailer (like Patrick Wilson watching a space ghost boy or a younger version of himself), it looks like Emmerich might be trying to put a Arrival / interstellar make a twist on the film, which should be extraordinarily ridiculous.

If I find it too negative about the film … you hear me clearly. Roland Emmerich is a less talented Michael Bay. Apart from his beloved Independence Day, his films are smelly. Despite this, Moon fall It seems so ridiculous that it can become the same Independence Day sweet place, where stupidity and cacophony manage to be entertained rather than annoying.

Either way, I’ll call it here and now: despite the leeway that science fiction usually gets, I predict Moon fall it will be the most scientifically inaccurate film ever made. I feel very confident about this, mainly because Emmerich thinks he’s greatwhere is:

Moon fall, which also stars Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak and Donald Sutherland, premieres on February 4, 2022. I can’t wait.
