Twitter explores the “undo post” feature for paying users

(Reuters) – Twitter Inc. is testing a “undo post” feature that would give users little time to withdraw a tweet before posting it, the company confirmed Friday.

Application researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who discovers social media features without warning by looking at site code, tweeted in an animation showing a tweet with a misspelling where there was a “undo” button before the short timer would run out.

A Twitter spokeswoman said the feature was being tested as part of the company’s exploration of how subscriptions to the platform could work. He said Twitter would be testing and iterating possible payment features over time.

Twitter has said it is working on paid subscription models, which would reduce its reliance on advertising revenue, including a “super follow” feature to allow users to charge their followers for access to exclusive content that will be released this year.

Jack Dorsey, CEO, has said earlier that the site would probably never have an “edit button,” a feature users have been looking for for a long time.

But Twitter has been introducing more requests as users send tweets, such as asking them if they want to read an article before sharing it, and experimenting with the possibility of people reviewing a tweet response before posting it. if you use harmful language.

The company reportedly included a possible “undo submission” feature in a user survey last year that asked what features people would like to have available through a subscription model.
