UPS plans to buy the same day delivery company Roadie

United Parcel Service announced on Friday its plans to buy Roadie, a multidisciplinary supply company, on the same day that has among its main customers the Home Depot home improvement chain.

The bond comes after major UPS retail customers, such as Amazon, Walmart and Target, have built or purchased concert delivery services to provide fast local delivery of everything from fresh food to bulky furniture.

UPS and Roadie did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, which is scheduled to close during the fourth quarter.

It would add new UPS services just in time during the high holiday shipping season, when demand for delivery will increase.

“Roadie usually provides services for shipments that are not compatible with the UPS network because of their perishable size and naturalness, and often because they are in shopping bags without the packaging needed to go through the UPS system,” UPS said in a statement. .

Upon completion of the acquisition, Roadie will continue to operate under its existing name.
