Vista Equity Partners agrees to purchase Software Manufacturer Plural View

Private-equity firm Vista Equity Partners has agreed to buy education-software maker Plunside Inc., sources close to the matter said.

The deal is valued at $ 20.26 a share, or $ 3.5 billion, including debt, the companies said in a report confirming an earlier report in The Wall Street Journal.

Farmington, Utah-based Plural View is a cloud-based online-education platform for software developers that sells to businesses and individuals.

Private-equity companies such as Vista were already focusing on business-software providers, with their persistent-revenue models, before increasing interest in infectious companies, making its offers easier for employees and students to reach remotely.

In March, Vista rival Toma Bravo LP signed a $ 2 billion deal with education-software company Instructor Inc.
