“Vote 4 years or so”

RICHMOND, Va. – Dozens of parents and community members gathered Saturday morning in Southside Plaza to gather for Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Jason Kamras.

“I write the Keep Kamras label and then I’ll write four more years,” said Richard Sebastian, Richmond’s father.

The group took part in a car parade around the city to ask the school board to extend Kamras ’contract for another four years.

“She has done a great job. Just communicating, building community and really caring about the kids, “Sebastian said.” It has a strategic plan that we never had. “

Parents and students are protesting on Saturday, February 6, 2021 to renew the contract of Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Jason Kamras for at least four more years.

“We feel that he has been present in all of these areas and that he represents all communities and that he is working on all issues that interest parents,” added Pam Booker, another Richmond father.

Kamras’ contract ended on June 30, but the school board has not yet made a decision on his future.

Half of Richmond’s school board members support a four-year extension for Kamras, while the other half are supporters of no more than two, according to the Richmond Free Press.

“Send an RPS directly, let us know if anyone has a virus or anything like that and let’s look for their auto-box,” Latisha Erby said.

Erby, who has four children in Richmond public schools and helped organize the parade on Saturday, said she has been pleased with her leadership during the pandemic and the decision to keep virtual RPS.

“I think we should continue online. While it’s not easy, it’s safer, ”Erby said.

He just waits for the board to make the right decision to move forward.

“Come on Monday, I hope and pray for everyone to vote for four years or so,” Erby said. “With that I’m teaming up.”
