Elizabeth Olsen stars in Wanda Maximoff in “WandaVision” at Disney +.

Kevin Feige warned us that the Disney + Marvel series would have implications for the great Marvel movie universe. And he has fulfilled that promise.
The fifth episode of “WandaVision,” which brought a major cameo that left the viewer long before episode six arrives next week, hit the broadcast service on Friday. The revelation not only has ramifications within the sitcom-based TV show, but for the entire Marvel universe … or should I say multiverse.
Now would be a good time to look the other way if you haven’t seen the most recent episode of “WandaVision”.
** Spoilers ahead **
The fifth episode, titled “In a Very Special Episode …”, our candied team of FBI agent Jimmy Woo, Dr. Darcy Lewis and Captain Monica Rambeau came closer to understanding the Westview anomaly .
Meanwhile, Vision, still part of the simulation, but now set in the 1980s, grows with increasing suspicion from the world around it. Neighbors have started acting weird, their twins are aging of their own free will and his wife, Wanda, while trying to dismiss their worries, only makes them grow.
Just as the newly minted husband and wife are ready for a superpowerful discussion, the bell rings. Wanda, confused by this turn, responds. Pietro Maximoff is at the poor top, but he is not Pietro Maximoff.
Elizabeth Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff in “WandaVision” at Disney + with special guest Evan Peters in Pietro Maximoff.
Disney
It’s Peter Evans, not Aaron Taylor-Johnson who appears on the other side of the door. The actor played the mutant Quicksilver in several X-Men movies, which until 2019 were owned by 20th Century Fox.
It is hinted that Wanda had not planned to take her brother to her sitcom simulation. After all, only a few previous scenes Wanda refuses to retrieve her children’s dead puppy.
“You can fix anything, mother, correct death,” one son remarks. After the decay, even neighbor Agnes, who has the theory of pulling out at least some of the ropes from Wanda’s simulation, asked him if he could really do that.
“I try to tell you that there are rules in life,” Wanda explains to her two boys. “We can’t rush to age because it’s convenient and we can’t reverse death no matter how sad it makes us. Some things are forever.”
This statement raises two questions: Has Vision died or has Wanda (or someone else) returned it? And did Wanda recover a different Pietro by accident or did someone else do it?
Both will probably be answered before the credits reach the final episode in a few weeks.
Audiences have already been able to glimpse what happened before the Westview anomaly at the beginning of the episode when Wanda appeared in security camera images stealing Vision’s body from a secret lab. And there are likely to be many Easter eggs left to discover that provide more clues.
Welcome to the multiverse
So what about this new Pietro?
Before Disney acquired Fox’s entertainment brands in a $ 71 billion deal, the two studios made a deal. Disney could use Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, but could not refer to them as mutants or children of Magneto. That’s why in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Wanda and Pietro derived their powers from an infinite stone and not genetically.
Enthusiastic viewers might have noticed during Friday’s episode that when Tyler Hayward, the director of SWORD, asked if Wanda had a nickname like some of the other Avengers, she said no. Wanda has never been called the Scarlet Witch in any of the MCU movies.
As for Fox, the studio was allowed to use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in his films as long as he made no reference to the Avengers. In fact, Peters’ Quicksilver goes through Peter and not Pietro.

In recent months, rumors have circulated when Marvel executives have hired well-known faces to return in future MCU movies.
Disney has already confirmed that Jamie Foxx will return as Electro, from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” where Andrew Garfield appeared as Spider-Man. And Alfred Molina, who played Doctor Octopus during Tobey McGuire’s turn as the famous webslinger, is also confirmed to appear in the film.
Dr. will also appear. Strange by Benedict Cumberbatch.
It has been speculated that other MCU characters, or even from previous iterations of Spider-Man, will join the cast, but Disney has not confirmed these rumors.
The return of Pietro in the form of Peters indicates that Marvel is already on its way to exploring the multiverse. This was sparked during the Comic-Con in San Diego in 2019, when Marvel announced that the sequel to Doctor Strange would be called “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
For those unfamiliar with it, the Marvel multiverse is just a great way to tell a collection of alternate universes. They are similar in nature to each other, but have slight variations. It is a very popular concept in comics as it allows writers to reinvent characters and plots for new generations.
With Wanda’s confirmation as part of the sequel to Doctor Strange and Doctor Strange’s “Spider-Man 3”, it’s no wonder Marvel is sprinkling breadcrumbs. After all, the seeds of infinite stones appear in “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” long before they are named as such.
Marvel used the mind, power, reality, soul, space, and jewels of time over a decade, using them to weave new characters and situations that eventually led to “Avengers: Infinity War ”and the highest grossing film of all time” Avengers: Endgame “.
The introduction of the multiverse in “WandaVision” works on multiple levels for Disney. Not only are they setting a path for future MCU movies and shows, but the company is also making television essential for their streaming content. Fans should watch these shows if they don’t want to miss the plot lines or character presentations that will be integrated into the feature films.
“WandaVision” may have been the first Marvel project to debut since “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in July 2019, but it won’t be the last in 2021. At Disney +, it will be quickly followed by “The Falcon and the “Winter Soldier” in March, “Loki” in May and the animated series “What if …?” in the summer.
Theatrically, Marvel will release “Black Widow” on May 7, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” on July 9, “Eternals” on November 5 and its co-produced “Spider-Man 3” on December 17 .
