After two seasons at Cinemax, Warrior—The historical crime of martial arts The drama that has the most immediate fame of fame is that its concept was originally developed by Bruce Lee; come back. Well, instead of going back to the premium cable network that served as home for its first two years, Warrior will now pass to Cinemax’s cousin, HBO max.

Set in San Francisco in the 1870s, the series stars Andrew Koji as Ah Sahm, a Chinese immigrant looking for his missing sister in the midst of the infamous Tong Wars waged between Chinese gangs in the city during the era. Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan and a very full crew of co-stars complete the cast of the show, sketching a 19th-century California version that only hoped to explode due to political, racial, social, and more tensions.

Warrior last aired new episodes in December; it also has the distinction of being the final series to be produced on Cinemax before the network finally closes the original programming (at least in part due to the appearance of HBO Max). Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee—That the executive produces in the program—issued a statement today on the renewal and relocation:

WWe are excited and grateful for the opportunity to do another season and applaud HBO Max for understanding the importance of telling this story and for continuing to support this level of representation in our industry. I just know my dad is smiling right now to see that this show I dreamed of so long ago was still out there. We all intend to offer the same high level of storytelling and significant Gung Fu actions in season 3.
