Week 2 recap of ‘The Bachelor’: Matt faces Villa Victoria

Here’s a guide to watching “The Bachelor” or basically any form of reality TV – if someone says it’s “real” and “authentic,” it definitely won’t be.

In week 2, we met more women from the cast of 24 who are worth rooting for, such as Sarah, Bri and Lauren. We also met one who is not.

Victoria practically begged the spectators to turn her into the bad one. There was no fight or drama that led to this. He simply woke up and decided to make the contestants and viewers of “The Bachelor” dislike them, often through asinine sound bites.

“I’m not jealous, I just want to,” he said of his desire to have a date with Matt. She said the court jesters were “gestures” and said she and her enemy are like “oil and vinegar.” And I didn’t mean dressings.

That’s what otherwise went down during week 2.

The first of you to you

Bri was the lucky gallon. During the first cocktail party, the two connected to be biracial and be raised by single mothers. He gave her the first flower during the ceremony, which many of the women raised while regretting not being chosen.

Matt and Bri had a romantic time riding quads through the Pennsylvania woods. Of course, they fell into the mud.

Staying in line with this theme of the seasons of extreme excitement, Matt took off his dirty shirt and proceeded to chop wood (not a euphemism), before joining Bri in a hot tub.

During dinner, Bri explained to Matt how his mother had her when she was 13 years old. Now that Bri has grown up, her mother is pregnant and is forming a new family with which she struggles.

Both Matt and Bri have spent their lives wishing their parents would show up. The parallels were strange. Matt gave him a rose for his honesty.

The date of the group

Taking a date from last season of “The Bachelorette,” 18 (18 !!) girls wore wedding dresses and veils to do a photo shoot with her husband. (Hello again, photographer Franco Lacosta.) But before everyone could finish, Chris Harrison went into vouchers to turn the date into a death match of “Hunger Games,” which celebrates the wedding, and the winning team stayed with Matt. I’m surprised Jason Derulo didn’t show up to sing “Savage Love”.

The ladies ran through the woods throwing paint at each other. The red team (plus Mari, the MVP of the gold team) managed to clean up for a later party.

Like Matt, Lauren is also a Christian, which aroused her interest. He and Jessenia shared a kiss. Victoria told him there were “many sides,” without revealing either side. The rose went to Lauren.

The second of you to you

Sarah and Matt have a personal date.

This went to Sarah (a 24-year-old journalist – or maybe an Alexis Rose from the impersonation of “Schitt’s Creek”, as many noticed online). Potential lovers flew over the complex in a tiny biplane, before settling for some casual, vulnerable conversation. They both love their families, great! But Matt knew he was stopping.

During dinner, he revealed that his father has ALS. Sarah left her job to be able to be her full-time janitor. “I wanted you to go out looking for love and I felt that call to be here,” he said of his decision to join the show. He gave her a rose. “Today’s date has replaced everything I could have imagined,” Matt said, saying he likes Sarah’s compassion and altercation.

During the show, he shared this on Twitter. Could he really be a good man?

Not everyone had an appointment this week, so time was of the essence for women who needed to secure a Matt rose.

Abigail, who got the first impression, made Matt laugh. So did Kit and Magi. After Marylynn described that she had not been invited to a date this week, Matt gave her an orchid, her favorite flower.

(I’m sorry for what we’re about to get into, it’s completely fake and has no lasting repercussions, but the show spent 25 minutes on it, so we need to talk about it).

Victoria, who was Marylynn’s roommate but decided to sleep on the couch because Marylynn “cries a lot,” became jealous and decided to catch Matt, calling her “toxic” for no reason. Convinced Victoria is the victim, Matt decided to pull Marylynn aside to talk. He defended himself calmly, understanding that the situation was a “said-said.”

When Marylynn politely confronted Victoria, Victoria delivered a master class on manipulation and lighting. He wouldn’t even sit near Marylynn on the couch during the drama.

The rose ceremony

Matt gave roses to Pieper, Kit, Magi, Rachael, Abigail, Chelsea, Jessenia, Katie and Serena C. Halfway through the ceremony, Sarah began to feel dizzy and began to see stars. Another woman had to help her get off the podium and into another room. Matt left to help comfort her. He shouted he couldn’t see, and then the episode was cut short.

Prediction

Looks like someone will arrive next week. Sarah also seems to feel better. I hope Chelsea have broadcast time, because I follow her on TikTok and I find it a lot of fun.
