The PlayStation 5 is a big, lovely piece of hardware, but it’s not without its problems … problems like Wi-Fi connections that disappear completely until the system turns on and on again. It’s a problem that many PS5 owners have encountered since the launch, and while there are workarounds, it would be nice to the new console model with its potentially different Wi-Fi module it ended the problem completely.

One minute, PlayStation 5 networked like a champion. Next, I can’t connect, and when I reset the Wi-Fi, the console can’t find access points, even though I live in an apartment complex and I’m surrounded by wireless routers with names like ” MoFi ”and“ realtannggyy. ”Everything else in my house that connects to Wi-Fi, from my Xbox Series X to my no doubt smart lamp, can see the Wi-Fi network. one way to get the PS5 to see Wi-Fi again is to turn it off completely and turn it back on.

This is the problem I had with my PS5 in December 2020 and I was not alone. Numerous Reddit users had the problem. Browsing this thread on Reddit shows that the problem was still occurring until March last year. Most recently, game critic Janet Garcia asked about the problem on Twitter, getting several responses indicating that others were still going through exactly the same thing.

The best solution to the problem is, of course, to use a faster and more stable cable connection, but not everyone is in a position to do so. Others have suggested that it’s a problem with 2.4 GHz versus 5 GHz Wi-Fi connections, and forcing your PS5 to connect only via 2.4 GHz can clear it up.

What worked for me was the solution detailed in this Reddit thread, which raises that the problem lies in support for Internet Protocol version 6, also known as IPv6. I ended up disabling IPv6 on my wireless router and since then my PlayStation 5 has connected without any issues.

However, it’s a frustrating issue, but maybe there’s hope on the horizons for hopeful PS5 owners recently confirmed new model it begins to unfold. Along with fixing the annoying bracket screw, May reports i suggest the new model could also get a new wireless adapter. The main difference between the new wireless module of the AW-XM501 model and the original J20H100 module is the antenna gain, which should not affect the speed, but it could certainly affect the connectivity.

We contacted Sony about the possibility of a Wi-Fi solution in the new PS5 hardware model and will update this post in case the company responds. In the meantime, if you have similar network issues, try these fixes. Or just get a long, nice network cable and a nice rug to hide it from.
