The “Bridgerton” star says the “intimacy coordinator” helped create those sex scenes that everyone talks about

The period drama produced by Shonda Rhimes has become the latest show worth mentioning and has given languages that move everything, from the diversity of the cast (British Queen Charlotte is Black and played by actress Golda Rosheuvel ) until there is a second season.

But the steam sex scenes have also caught the audience’s attention, and according to one of the show’s stars, creating them wasn’t as easy as they made them seem.

Phoebe Dynevor plays Daphne Bridgerton’s boss and told Grace magazine that the first scene she shot was a graphic that an intimacy coordinator helped plan.

“And it was really fantastic, because it felt safe and fun: the choreography as a trick or a dance,” he said. “To me it’s crazy that this hasn’t been in the past. I’ve done sex scenes before that I can’t believe it was: only five or six years ago, but now it wouldn’t be allowed.”

Based on the 2000 novel “The Duke and I” written by romantic author Julia Quinn, the main plot of the series includes an interracial “want it or not” relationship between young Miss Bridgerton and a Duke, Simon Basset , portrayed by British -Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page.

Dynevor said Page was a “perfect casting” and had a message for those who believe it is unrealistic to have black characters in a Regency-era series.

“Will Mondrick, the boxer, is based on a real boxer of the time,” he said. “And there were many rumors (and many historians still say) that Queen Charlotte was of mixed race. The fact that we haven’t seen these stories told before seems crazy to me.”

And those who really look forward to more seasons may have their hearts set on the fact that showrunner Chris Van Dusen has a lot of source material to work with, as Quinn wrote a series of “Bridgerton” books.
