August 23 (Reuters) – Elon Musk, chief executive of Tesla Inc. (TSLA.O), said on Monday that the electric car maker was working to improve the long-awaited update to its autonomous driving software “as soon as possible” .
The billionaire businessman he tweeted that version 9.2 of Full Self-Driving Beta “isn’t really a big imo (in my opinion), but the autopilot / AI team is concentrating on improving as fast as possible.”
“We try to have a single battery for both highway and city streets, but it requires a massive recycling of neural networks.”
Tesla had recently been scrutinized by U.S. safety regulators, who opened an investigation into its driver assistant system due to accidents in which its cars crashed into stationary police cars and fire trucks.
Two U.S. senators also called on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Tesla, saying it was misleading consumers and endangering the public by marketing their driving automation systems as self-employed.
