How to make and share your 9 top Instagram 2020 posts

In this digital age, the end of the year remains a privileged time for reflection; only now can we get virtual help to help us remember what the best parts of the last twelve months were.

Instagram’s Top 9 is perhaps the best-known end-of-year collection tradition, in which people use technology to see which of their Instagram posts have garnered the most likes over the past year and then share that data in a way of grid.

While the practice of posting screenshots of reports on Insta’s profile is an old-fashioned practice of the “old days,” as Mashable puts it, in the last few days there have still been many posts on Instagram Stories.

Want to know how to make your own Top 9? Here’s how to put one together for use with your new year.

Choose between Top Nine and Best Nine

These two free sites only serve to determine and format your most popular posts. Top Nine is available as both a website and an application, the latter does not require an email address. Best Nine, which can only be used for public accounts, is just a site and works significantly slower. (“Please note that it now takes ten minutes to complete your application due to high demand,” the site warns).

Write the handle and wait

Just write it down and send it when asked anywhere.

Save and share

Top Nine offers a “Save and Share” button to easily post the grid-based report to your Instagram story. For those who prefer to upload it manually, just save or capture the image on your phone’s camera roll, then open Instagram and upload the image to a story.

Voila! While 2020 was probably not the most photogenic year of memory lived for many, we did, and yet it is worth remembering the highlights (and perhaps leaving behind the few spotlights).
