Composer, musician and YouTuber Alex Moukala he released a fun, bass remix of Nintendo Wii-themed music on Twitter yesterday and then invited other artists to do the same. The result is an impromptu session full of super talent that shows his love for one of the most quirky songs in the games.
Moukala, whose music has appeared in movie trailers such as Avengers: Endgame, and who can be seen often on your YouTube channel breaking down your favorite video game soundtracks, he started things adding a new funky bass line to the music from the Wii console’s home menu.
The Italian composer called on others to join, sharing the necessary sound files for them to bring their own music. “I think this would sound even better with more instruments, so I invite any musician to join me and post their prey with a #MiiChannelJam Tag!”
It didn’t take long for many other musicians to respond, including some responsible for their amazing video game music:

Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes also joined, as did Celeste i Sackboy: A great adventure composer Lena Raine, both added their own synthesizing twists:
The jam session continued. Violinist and songwriter Jeff Ball, who has worked on Steven Universe and also made music for various games Timespinner, added his own nightclub:
Currently, each track is separate, but Moukala says he can try to compile them into a single remix later in the week. For now, it’s a lot of fun to see so many talented artists arguing over a game classic. Internet! Sometimes it doesn’t do any sucking and in fact it’s very impressive. Moukala wrote, “Here’s the video game music equivalent to Sea Shanty and I love it!”
