In the announcement, which lasts just over a minute, the anti-Trump GOP group is calling for justice for Officer Brian Sicknick, who died as a result of the Capitol riot.
“At the Capitol Roundabout, the remains of a brave man rest in a place of honor,” the video begins.
“He died like a hero,” the ad continues. “And now Brian Sicknick deserves justice.”
Sicknick died the day after the Capitol attack due to the injuries he suffered while trying to protect the building and its occupants from the violent crowd. After his death, he was awarded the rare distinction of lying in honor of the Capitol Roundabout.
The announcement blames Trump and his allies for inciting the riot that caused Sicknick’s death and several injuries.
“The crowd that killed him and injured other Capitol police officers was not absurd. She was sent there,” the voice-over says as images of Trump’s news talking are played.
“I don’t know if I’ll do the fight myself or if other people will,” the former president says in the clip.
The crowd was “fed a diet of lies” that sparked the January 6 insurgency, and now those who should be held accountable are “trying to escape responsibility,” the announcement alleges.
